Sharing and Providing Information to Surrey in an Emergency

Surrey Prepared Facebook page and group

Surrey Local Resilience Forum now has a Facebook page called Surrey Prepared and a group, named Surrey Prepared Group. This initiative is not intended to replace SurreyAlert or partner websites. Instead it aims to sign post you to existing information to help you prepare for an emergency before one occurs. It is hoped that this way of communicating will reach new groups of Surrey residents, who had not originally been aware of emergency planning arrangements within Surrey.

We also hope that this serves to put Surrey residents with an interest in community emergency preparedness in touch with each other via Surrey Prepared Group so that they can better prepare their communities for emergencies.

We would like to encourage you to either become Surrey Prepared's 'friend' or join Surrey Prepared Group. Please note that Surrey Prepared is administered by a number of people with Surrey LRF organisations.

What to do in an emergency

What should I do in an emergency?

In a major emergency, if you are not involved in the incident, but are close by or believe you may be in danger, the best advice is to go inside a safe building, stay inside until you are advised to do otherwise, and tune in to local radio or TV for information.

If you find yourself in the middle of an emergency, your common sense and instincts will usually tell you what to do.

Go In, Stay In, Tune In

Go in, Stay in, Tune in

The GO IN, STAY IN, TUNE IN advice is recognised and used around the world. It was developed by the independent National Steering Committee on Warning and Informing the Public as being the best general advice to give people caught up in most emergencies.
