Surrey's Local Resilience Forum

The SLRF coordinates the response of Surrey's emergency services, health authorities, and local authorities to major incidents.

Membership consists of the Chief Constable of Surrey Police, the Chief Executive of Surrey County Council, the Chief Fire Officer, the Chief Executive of Surrey Ambulance Service, a representative Chief Executive of the Primary Health Care Trusts, a representative of Surrey Borough and District Chief Executives and senior representatives from Hospital Trusts, the Armed Services, the Environment Agency and the Government Office for the South East (GOSE).

The SLRF agencies are involved in joint emergency planning, training and exercises.

TRAININGAIM
Introduction to Surrey Emergency Planning To promote awareness of the multi-agency civil protection arrangements in Surrey and the requirements under the Civil contingencies Act (CCA) 2004
Incident Liaison Officer Training To provide incident liaison officers with an overview of their roles during a major incident
Exercise Instep Through syndicate working promote awareness of issues around the initial stages of a major incident and the transition to the recovery stage
Major Incident Media Training Increase awareness of media management of issues and multi-agency communication planning arrangements in relation to a major incident in Surrey
Emergency Assistance Centre Training To understand the purpose and operation of Rest Centres, Friends and Relatives Reception Centres, Survivor Reception Centres and Humanitarian Assistance Centres and the role of the agencies involved
Strategic Emergency Management Training To explore strategic issues which may confront senior managers in preparation , during and post incident and provide an overview of the public inquiry process
Exercise Comet A major tactical command exercise held annually
Exercise Switch A multi-agency cascade exercise to test communication links

Nationally, the Cabinet Office Emergency Planning College provides training from their Easingwold training facility.
